Saving Critically Endangered Species
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is wholeheartedly committed to protecting and saving species that are on the brink of extinction. The WWF is making a concerted effort to protect species from becoming endangered or extinct.
Threats to Endangered Species
Despite inspiring stories of wildlife rehabilitation and environmental victories, many species remain endangered due to factors such as:
- Habitat loss
- Pollution
- Climate change
- Poaching
IUCN Red List Categories
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) meticulously categorizes species based on their risk level. The IUCN Red List Categories are employed to determine which species are at the highest risk of extinction globally.
Critically Endangered Species
Tragically, the IUCN estimates that nearly 4000 species are classified as critically endangered. These species face imminent extinction due to severe threats to their survival.
